Veronika Huta's Homepage
This webpage is dedicated to the following:
* The HEEMA scale (and the earlier HEMA and HEMA-R) measuring the three main ways in which people define and pursue a good life: hedonic, eudaimonic, and extrinsic orientations, along with all existing translations
* The well-being experience measures used by my lab in past research, including the measures I developed to assess:
* Meaning experience
* Elevating experience
* Self-connectedness
* Carefreeness
* Information for potential graduate students
* A few interviews I've done
Please note that this webpage does not have my publications - the key ones can be found on ResearchGate.

Information for prospective doctoral students
I give priority to doctoral experimental psychology students who wish pursue a career in research, but I will consider exceptional clinical candidates as well.
Here are some of the topics I would want to collaborate on with a graduate student:
* childhood predictors of eudaimonic (authenticity/autonomy, excellence/virtue, growth/maturation/self-actualization, meaning/contribution), hedonic (pleasure, comfort), and extrinsic (power, wealth, status, image, popularity) conceptions of a good life
* worldviews/primals (Koltko-Rivera, Jer Clifton) and eudaimonic, hedonic, and extrinsic orientations
* worldviews/primals, spirituality/religiosity/atheism, and well-being
* broaden-and-build effects (a la Barbara Fredrickson) of elevation (awe, inspiration, moral elevation, transcendence) as compared to other positive affect
* principled/non-selfish moral reasoning (updating and expanding on Kohlberg) and pro-environmental behaviour
If you have an idea for a topic that is not listed, feel free to let me know and I will consider it.
I tend to give priority to novel topics, broad topics covered as comprehensively as possible, existential topics, and/or theory development.
I would also suggest that you read some of my publications on ResearchGate to get a feel for the issues we focus on in our lab and how we address them.
Looking at my departmental webpage, you may notice that I teach statistics. You do not have to love stats to be in my lab! I would like my students to become competent in statistics, but it doesn't have to be a major focus for you. In addition, we have recently begun to use mixed methods in some of the research in our lab - I believe that qualitative methods play an invaluable role in gaining insight.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
